Write Start’s Policies
Payment Policy: Payment is $165.00 for 3 days and $145.00 for 2 days a week with a $65 registration fee. If you have other kids who go to Jefferson Academy, we offer early drop-off for morning classes (No earlier than 8:10. Regular preschool starts at 9) for a $40 added monthly fee. Please let us know if you are interested. Payments are due on the 1st of each month, for that month; if we don’t receive it by the 5th, there will be a $30 late fee applied to your balance due. If there is ever a problem, please talk to Miss Karen promptly. You may pay with checks, cash, direct payments (set up through your bank), or electronically. We can now accept payments through Venmo (@WriteStart), but please make sure you include your child’s name. If you are sending a check in your child’s backpack, please place it in an envelope with their name on it and text us to let us know.
Clothing: Please help your child choose clothing that will “take” the rigorous workout your young artist will give them. Please send extra clothes to leave at school labeled. Please have your child bring a backpack (labeled) every day, and please make sure all coats, gloves, etc. are labeled as well.
Snack Policy: Several times during the year, your child will have a chance to bring a snack for the class. We will try to send home the snack bag for you to return the next class day with a snack. Your child's name will be added to the monthly calendar to let you know which day. They will also bring a snack when they are Star of the week. This will be reflected on the calendar.
Star of the Week: Your child will be assigned a week during the year when they will be celebrated. It will be near their birthday unless they have a summer birthday. During this week, they will get to be line leader, snack helper, and bring snack one day during that week. Please watch for their name on the monthly calendar. Your child is welcome to bring a treat to celebrate their birthday!
Show-and-Tell: Show-and-Tell will be on Thursday or Friday depending on what day they have class. Please try to send things that start with the corresponding letter on the calendar, if possible. Toys from home are not to be brought on any day other than show-and-tell day.
Illness: If a child becomes ill or is injured while at school, I will administer first aid as needed, notify you of any action taken, and fill out an accident/illness report. In the case of a serious injury, I will follow the procedure outlined on the emergency form. Children who are contagious, have a fever, or are unable to participate in the daily routine because of illness should not attend class. My primary concern is for the health and comfort of all children involved. Your child’s immunizations need to be up to date. If they are not, please let me know as soon as possible.
Pick-up/drop-off: If you are dropping off late or picking up early you will need to text or call Miss Karen or Miss Quincie to let us know because the doors are automatically locked for safety reasons. The doors will be open the first 10 minutes of class. When dropping off, enter the parking lot from Angel Street, go to the west side of the school to enter the parking lot and turn left. Circle around to the second set of doors with the driver’s side of the car closer to the building and one of our teachers will be there to help get your child(ren) out. Please be respectful and don’t cut off others, just follow the line of cars. Please pull forward after picking up your child to a parking spot to buckle them up. It severely backs up our pickup line.
Field Trips: All field trips are parent participation and take the place of class that day.
Other: We prepare our preschoolers to be ready for school. We cannot do this alone, so please also work with your child at home. Try to read 20 minutes a day with them! Be aware of what letter, number, etc. we are working on. All children learn at their own pace. Every child is gifted, they just unwrap their packages at different times.
